Wilder Camping Club

The first rule of Wilder Camping Club, is ... that it's fine to talk about it.  However it is an exclusive club, that is invite only. Basically, if you stay at one of the sites and literally leave no trace of your visit, and I feel confident you're going to look after the sites well, then you get an invite.  It's for the people, like you and me, who really love and care for these places and enjoy growing that connection with them.

If you've stayed at Yalding, you might not know about the new Hever site.  It is, if anything more wild (there's no loo yet, though I'm aiming to build one over the winter).  It's also quite a bit bigger, around 3 acres, rather than the one acre at Yalding.  It has its quirks, one of which is that it's literally right next to the station, so in the evening from some parts you can hear the station announcements.  That does mean it's super easy to get to on public transport.

What you get

What it means is that you get to stay when others can't - in the winter, stays starting mid-week, one night stays (except at weekends) and it's cheaper too, both per night and no Airbnb fees, as you book directly through my website.    You've been before, so you know where it is, and how everything works.

What you have to do

I won't have checked the site before you come, and I won't check after your stay.  So if there are any issues, then please take photos and let me know straight away.  If it's a few bit's of small litter left, then please clear them up, but do let me know, as they won't be getting an invite to the club (to be honest it's very rare for anything more serious than that).  When you leave, please take a handful of sawdust from the bag behind the loo, and sprinkle it down the hole.  That's it.

How to book

Click on the calendar below to book for Yalding and email me chris@freerangeglamping.co.uk to book Hever.

Winter stays

As a club member, you're welcome to book to stay in the winter, but that doesn't mean there's necessarily a place on site to park.  At Yalding the parking area can get too muddy to drive, so you might have to dump your stuff, and park in the village. Similarly at Hever the track cannot be used in the winter, so you need to park in the station carpark and carry your stuff onto the site.  Parking at Hever is currently (2025) £3.50 per 24hours.  Even better come on the train, or cycle.  And note it's all at your own risk, I don't have a way to pull out a stuck vehicle, so please err on the side of caution, so you continue to leave no trace.

Membership

There is no cost to membership, but to retain it, you do have to keep to the excellent leave no trace standard you have shown.

Prices

In the summer it's £35 per night and in winter £25 per night - for upto 4 people.  And then £10 extra per person per night.
